Swiss Gear Manufacturer: The Wenger Company
Swiss Gear products are manufactured by the Wenger Company. Product labels say Swiss Gear or Wenger but all have the telltale Swiss Cross on the logo. The company is famous for the Swiss Army Knife but product line advances include cutlery, watches, luggage, footwear and travel cases. The Wenger company also manufactures camping tents, sleeping bags, and backpacks.
The History of the Wenger Company
The company, which is located in Delemont Switzerland, got its start in 1886 when it was commissioned by the Swiss army to develop a knife for the soldiers. The now famous knife includes various tools besides having a functional knife. In 1900, the business moved into a massive building and started developing other knives for commercial and private use.
US minister Theodore Wenger and his Swiss wife returned to Switzerland and Theodore was hired by the famous knife company to work as manager. Wenger eventually purchased the company, renaming it after himself. The product line continues to grow but continues to make the famous Swiss Army Knives.
