For those who love camping, there are many types of camping tents available to choose from. Some are small and some are large. Some are easy to set up, while others can be difficult. With so many styles of tents, there is one for everyone, depending on their needs. One of the most popular types of tent, especially for those with a large number of campers in their group, is the “cabin tent”.
A “cabin tent” is best known for its nearly straight walls and high roof, which allow for plenty of floor space. This type of tent usually has a rigid frame. Because of the type of frame used in this tent, it may take longer to set it up, but it insures that the tent is also very sturdy. Cabin tents are usually constructed with removable room dividers for privacy, which can be especially important when being used by a family with several members. There may be some who wish to have privacy for sleeping or dressing, and this type of camping tent addresses those needs perfectly.
Cabin tents come in several sizes. They can range from the smallest, 8’ by 10’, to the largest, 18’ by 24’, depending on the manufacturer. The number of people who can fit into a cabin tent comfortably depends on the size of the tent as well as the size of those who are going to use it. The smallest cabin tent will fit 2 campers, while one of the largest may allow for 8 or more people to use it. When buying a cabin tent, if trying to decide between two tent sizes, one should choose the larger size, just to assure that the tent will house everyone comfortably. One can also choose to have an awning included with their tent if they wish.
When buying a cabin tent, there are several aspects to consider in addition to the size. Of these, the most important one is to make sure that the tent is fireproofed. This will insure that the tent will not catch fire easily if exposed to sparks or flames. Other items which should be considered include having a back door with a window in addition to the front door. This will allow for cross ventilation of the tent, which is important when camping in a hot area. The tent should also have screened windows with zippered panels which can be closed when it is raining, snowing, or windy.
Another accessory which helps to make the camping experience in a cabin tent more enjoyable is a tent fly. This is a piece of waterproof material that is placed on top of the actual tent material. It prevents rain, snow, or even sparks from coming in contact with the canvas material of the tent. In addition, when purchasing a cabin tent, one must be sure that the tent has taped and reinforced seams. At times, the seams may be stressed by rain, snow, wind, etc., and if not strengthened could tear. One other accessory that some may find important is the flooring for the tent. Especially in areas where there are snakes or other small animals and insects, an attached floor will keep these from entering into the tent. The flooring should extend six inches up on the sides of the tents.
